Techwin solutions make a difference in our daily life.

In a bid to uplift marginalized communities and foster sustainable development, Techwin Limited has joined forces with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to enhance the value addition of camel milk in Marsabit County, Kenya. This collaborative effort aims to empower local camel milk producers, particularly in off-grid areas, by providing them with the necessary resources and support to thrive in the dairy industry.

One of the key initiatives under this partnership involves supporting nine women groups operating in different milk aggregation centers across Marsabit County. These women-led dairy groups include Karare Women Dairy Group, Nalepo Women Dairy Group in Ilpus, Nasigakwe Women Dairy Group in Scheme, Naningoi Women Dairy Group in Kituruni, Namayan Women Dairy Group in Kamboe, Parkishon Women Dairy Group, and Nasiaku Women Dairy Group in Lakartinya.

To bolster the value addition process and ensure the preservation of camel milk quality, Techwin Limited has installed solar-powered milk cooling stations and provided value addition equipment to these women groups. These stations harness the abundant solar energy available in the region, enabling dairy producers to refrigerate and store camel milk effectively, even in remote, off-grid areas. These solar-powered solutions not only enhance the quality and safety of camel milk but also extend its shelf life, allowing farmers to access broader markets and command higher prices for their products.

"By partnering with GAIN and supporting women groups in Marsabit County, we aim to promote sustainable dairy farming practices and unlock the full economic potential of camel milk," said John Wajohi, Director, Projects of Techwin Limited. "Our solar-powered milk cooling stations and value addition equipment will enable local farmers to increase their income while contributing to improved nutrition and food security in the region."

Moreover, this partnership underscores the importance of collaboration between private enterprises and international organizations in addressing pressing socio-economic challenges and driving positive change at the grassroots level. Through shared expertise, resources, and a commitment to sustainable development, Techwin Limited and GAIN are paving the way for inclusive growth and prosperity in Marsabit County.

As the initiative gains momentum, it is poised to make a tangible impact on the lives of camel milk producers and their families, creating opportunities for income generation, skill development, and community empowerment. Together, Techwin Limited and GAIN are shaping a brighter future for marginalized communities in Marsabit County, where the potential of camel milk as a valuable commodity can be fully realized.
