Renewable Energy for Sustainable Futures: Techwin Limited Supporting the Advancement of Technical Education with Clean Energy.

Techwin Limited, through its solar division, Suntech Power, has successfully completed and handed over a 50 kVA hybrid solar plant at Murang’a Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in Maragua. The project—covering supply, installation, testing, and training—was delivered on time and ready for commissioning in August 2025.

MTTI, established in 2017 under Kenya’s State Department of Vocational & Technical Training, offers programs in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, and more—positioning it as a key player in technical and vocational education in Murang’a County.

The installation of this solar plant, therefore, directly supports these programs by providing practical, hands-on training equipment for students. More broadly, it underpins Kenya’s education and renewable energy goals—empowering students to gain real-world experience on sustainable power systems.

Seamless Delivery by Techwin Limited

Our company's projects team, headed by Eng. Davis Koech, managed the project from end-to-end, ensuring the supply and installation of high-quality solar panels and hybrid system components, comprehensive testing and commissioning to ensure reliable operation, and training for MTTI staff and technical team to operate and maintain the system effectively.

Techwin's years of experience in the renewable energy sector, diligent project management, and technical expertise have made it possible to supply and install this 50kVa solar plant within the agreed timeline of August 2025.

A Milestone Aligned with National and County Priorities

The need for Muranga Technical Training Institute to transition to solar power coincides with Kenya’s broader vision to achieve a greener, more sustainable future, both in manufacturing, service delivery, and the education sector. Renewable energy is central to the nation’s push for universal, reliable power access and climate resilience.

At the official commissioning on 28 August 2025, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki underscored the importance of such projects in advancing educational infrastructure and reducing energy constraints for institutions like MTTI. For us at Techwin Limited, it was a proud moment to have been the means by which sustainability was achieved.

Local Impact, Global Significance

For Murang’a County, this installation enhances energy independence at MTTI, reduces operational costs, and boosts educational capacity in applied science and engineering. For Techwin Limited, it reinforces our commitment to delivering impactful, sustainable solutions.

This project marks a significant stride in Techwin’s mission—renewable energy for sustainable futures. With training now in place and a system that aligns seamlessly with MTTI’s curriculum, students are better equipped to lead Kenya’s energy transition.

As Kenya continues to invest in education and clean power, Techwin remains proud to deliver solutions that power learning, innovation, and community development—one solar project at a time.
